GOD'S SPECIAL OFFER
Most people love a bargain! It is not unknown for people to queue for many hours - even many
days - so that they could be first in line for that extra special bargain in the shop window. Yet there is an extra
special bargain anyone can have, freely, if they will just take the time to stop, read, think and apply. It is
God' s special offer of eternal life found only in the pages of His word, the Bible, a book sadly neglected by
many people today.
There is a television programme called "This is your life", which most of you will be familiar with,
when the presenter comes along with a large red book which contains the life and achievements of the person concerned.
If you would take the time to read the pages of God's Word, the Bible, you will find there a description of the
way we should be living our lives. You will find a description of what will happen if we live our lives according
to God's commands, and also of what will happen if we do not!
The Bible teaches the origin of life in Genesis 1 v 27
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them"
It shows, in Genesis 3 how, through our first parents, Adam and Eve, we are all condemned to death because of sin.
But it also teaches that God has made us all a very special offer, through the sacrifice of Jesus His Only Son
- the offer of eternal life in the Kingdom of God to be set upon earth. We read these very well known words in
John 3 vv 16 and 17:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world
through him might be saved".
This offer is free, but it is not unconditional. It is not an offer open to those who are so wrapped up in their
own lives they have no time for God. We cannot just do as we please with no thought for anyone but ourselves. The
offer is open to all who will obey God's commandments which are given to us in the pages of His Word, the Bible,
and who will live their lives according to that Word.
